Since I get less than 12 hours to enjoy it, I'm gonna shout it from the rooftops. In all my time in DPC I have never had two images on the front page at once, but due to the late DQ of William's fine hummingbird shot, my seagull pas-de-deux backdoored a yellow ribbon in the Wildlife challenge. So I'm excited about that, and wanted everyone to know :-)
Not only that, but I've been trying to ribbon with a seagull since 2005, and finally pulled it off, beating my teammate and arch-rival Vawendy to this coveted milestone :-)
I distinctly remember you telling me that, since you were deaf, you didn't really have any luck shooting birds... I think you'll need to reconsider this now.. :)
(Totally kidding btw, I absolutely know you were talking about trying to locate birds in trees and such..)..

Right. We were at a clam shack on Narragansett Bay, taking my son to the Providence airport and fueling up on clams en route. There were masses of gulls riding a very strong wind directly overhead, hoping for dropped food I guess. So I went to the car and grabbed the camera with the 100mm IS on it and pointed it up. They hung around for a few minutes, then dispersed. No problem finding gulls, just go where there's clams :-)

Nice to seagulls getting the recognition they deserve! :)
I didn't have the guts to enter a seagull in this one. I even switched out my seagull shot from the free study, last minute. Though I probably should have left it in.
