So I just got disqualified. I didn't even realize what I had done was illegal. In one of my three pictures there was a little bit of a hand showing in the corner of the shot. I knew cloning was illegal, so I duplicate the layer then moved it over to cover the spot and masked out the rest of the layer. I should have known this wasn't allowed. A newbie mistake I guess.
The picture wasn't doing very well anyway, so I guess I am glad I learned that you can't do that on this photo, instead of one that was getting a really good score. I would really be kicking myself if that were the case.
This is an advanced editing challenge, therefore cloning and masking are allowed as long as you don't remove any major elements.
I knew I could clone out stray hairs and such, I thought layer mask were legal as well, I use them all the time in advanced editing. But this time I used one to cover up a small(very small) section of a hand that was showing and I didn't want it to. I used the same photo but moved it so it covered up the part I didn't want to show with a similar section of the duplicated photo.
How does this happen, by the way? Did someone actually ask for validation? How on earth would anyone know a hand was missing that should be there? Strange things are afoot. Also, can someone please DQ my complimentary colors photo? The score's going down so fast it's gone plaid.

I think I will, like I said I am not that heartbroken over being diqualified as my picture wasn't doing that well, but I would like to have better clarification so that I don't repeat the mistake in future challenges.
Thanks I just did, and they said it was because I split an image. Which would have been fine if I only split it and had three, but I split 3 pictures in half which I guess makes a total of six images. Didn't know that splitting an image and rearanging it made it into a new image, but is helpful so that I don't make the same mistake again in a future challenge.

no... If I remember the photo correctly, I believe that she put two halves together to make a completely new photo (three times), and then put borders around them. In that case, you're creating a photo that never existed.
