I need ideas. I want to do a sexy/provacative shot for the portrait challenge. How can I convince her to pose for me? I need clever ideas that won't involve me spending big bucks.
Have you asked her yet? She might just say yes... And to convience her... Just tell her you'll make her look beautiful in the shot, and then make sure you do ;) Most importantly don't pressure her, and try to make her really comfortable with it... Assure her that any shots she doesn't like you can delete.
If she won't do it, I'm sure other lady DPCers would volunteer.
Is that so? Should I start a thread asking female DPC'ers to reply if they will pose for me? I have a very sturdy camera with a great lens. Think I could get some mamacitas with a line like that?
I take it your relationship isn't yet at the point where such topics can be candidly broached? I'm married myself and we have the kind of relationship where we both are comfortable with that type of stuff . . But we've known each other for about 10 years.
One thing I've found in my efforts to photograph other people is that some people are naturally excited by the idea of being in pics and some people have a harder time overcoming their anxieties. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying this but some of the people that are the biggest camera hams are not the most photogenic and vice versa :) ..
If you haven't asked her then give it a shot. She might surprise you. I would also kind of start slow. Not even sexy at first. Just 'taking pictures'. As she relaxes, you'll know when the moment is right.

Only thing I'd add to what Wes said is give her absolute veto power over any shot she doesn't like... She doesn't need a reason, just a "Delete it" and honor her wishes... This should go for any model and any type of shot but especially with someone you plan to remain in a relationship with.

you just have to find what the coin of the realm is. i start by asking. if that does not work, try gold, flowers, money, etc. i agree on giving her the ultimate veto over the pictures. take a picture and then delete it in front of her. this works wonders. it shows her that you keep your word.
if all else fails, hire a model. i hire quite a few and pay them decently to get them to pose in very erotic situations.
This whole thread has been pretty distasteful to me. Just ask the gal. If you can supply a good enough reason, that will be enough. If she says no, that's that. If she says yes, then go ahead and shoot.
What's the message being given by all this talk of bribery? A very bad one. It is exactly the same message given to girls to persuade them to go on the streets, or do porn movies, or whatever else men without grace or any sense of self-esteem seem to be keen to get girls to do.
Well, I'm sad to report that no sexy photos were taken. Although she said she would do it, we just didn't get around to doing it. I bought a new lens just for it too, dang it to heck!
