I have a fear of phone tech support. I usually end up speaking to someone in India, and the conversation centres on my date of birth, address, favourite colour, pet's name, mother's maiden name, account number, and many other strange security and identification topics. All which I find very boring.
Luckily, after a ten minute phone menu system, I spoke to a Canadian and she set me straight. Apparently, the K1 prefers to have texts sent to the phone memory instead of the SIM card.

Your advice was indeed the solution! But flips make me feel like Captain Kirk! WAAaaah. :-(
Motorola does make touch smart phones (I have the Cliq). You could secretly keep in touch with your Trekkie side while making your move into the "Next Generation."

But then the problem is that I live in Canada, where we are charged an arm & a leg for cell plans, so I only use it for voice & texts. Stoopid Canada.
I had an interesting situation yesterday. I got a phone call from my Canon rep saying I sent 3 text messages to him yesterday.....he even read them to me. But...they weren't from me nor was there any record of them on my phone. At the time of sending them I was alone and no where near my phone.

You might want to look at your call history online and make sure someone didn't clone your number onto another phone......
