There are already more than 300 pictures submitted for the June Free Study. Does anyone feel like their picture will get lost in the shuffle? With that many pictures, it's got to be much more difficult to get a decent score. Or am I wrong with this?
I think you're right...there won't be too many comments either unless your picture is outstanding or really suck. If it's average it'll probably not get too many comments.
There are a lot of submissions, but people have had a whole month to fulfill the task, so the chance of having time left or ideas left to shoot the best picture of June was increasing per day... But I don't think it is harder to get a decent score than always, because for me it seems always hard to get a decent score!! :P
No, without kidding (was I kidding?), with more people competing, the chances of being in the top 10 becomes harder (50 competers, chance = 1/5, 100 competers, chance = 1/10, 300 competers chance = 1/30 and so on)
while the ratio 1/30 is correct
you are not competing against 30 people for 1 spot
you have to produce a photo that is better than at least 290 other photos to get a top 10
that to me seems a lot harder.. so congratulations to those that manage it this challenge

Yes, I think it is much harder to win a ribbon,the scoring should be the same! With a month worth of shot potential and any topic goes the pictures tend to be quite good!

I'm sure not going to be able to comment on them all (as I tried once before and it took forever!), but I'd make a point of commenting on at least 25% of this challenge.
I like in-depth comments, but I also am very appreciative of the shorter ones, so don't feel like you have to write a book.
With my March Free Study, there were 310 submissions & I pulled my best score yet, a 6.9.....it placed 19th.
Yes, I was thrilled with my score & comments, but free studies are tough competition. Bitter sweet....many have ribboned with lower scores, but you look at the score & comments & see that they are appreciated even though there's no ribbon. You need near perfect & a subject that is well liked all around.
Ribboning may be hard, but they do not get lost in the shuffle. Many mark favorites & such no matter what the placing. Good luck to all!

hehe that's the same thing: of every 30 people, 1 will get in the top 10! So the chance of being in the top 10 = 1/30 (I know statistics sound far fetched sometimes or feel like they can't be right, but in the end they're always right)
I guess I must be one of those 29 others that won't be in the top 10 (of 290 others for that sake) because I'm on 4.4048 after 42 votes and nothing really spectacular ever happens after so many votes...oh well...
