Here are a couple of shots from a shoot back in Mar. Again with the help of Max holding my speedlite with umbrella. If someone would like details just post here and I can respond. First shot was published in a fashion mag.(With different graphics) I like mine better:)
These guys started their own clothing company called SACRIFICE.
Always interested in lighting info! Care to post it in the hot shoe diaries thread? I'm trying to keep my info together, and it would be extremely helpful! (I'm planning on going back to it very soon...)
They are standing on blocks of ice. Every year they build an ice maze down at the waterfront. This was shot in march so some of it was melting and parts of it were toppled over. Cool setting for pics. I will revisit this winter with a model and at night.
Jac commented on one of the pics. He mentioned it looks like a composite. Well it is a composite but it wasnt the sky that was added. The sky is original to the shot with the exception of a few cloned out branches. THe composite aspect was that each guy was shot individually on the ice and then they were masked in.
THe process..
setup tripod with the scene and angle that suited best.
set up first guy on the left and had Quigley hold my speedlite with a bounce umbrella over his head on the left. Snapped the shot
keeping the first guy in place, I then positioned the second guy in the right spot, had the first guys step out and snap away.
Then repeated that process for the remaining 2 guys.
then in PS combined pics and masked where necessary.

A few reasons why I did it that way..
It was cold that day and time was an issue. To set up all the lights I wanted would take too long.
Also those lights would have to be in the shot because of the proximity I would have to place them to each guy.
Trying to get everyone in a group shot doing exactly what you want all at the same time is not always easy. One person is sneezing,someone moves, or has to adjust,etc..
If I remember correctly it was also really windy that day. I had one asst so I decided that one light that is moveable would be easier and quicker for everyone.
