I did read it! ;-) But some of those photos leave me wondering if the folks who submitted did! There are a few that I don't really consider to be "close up". Obviously the photographer did. I was just wondering if anyone else thought the same way or if I was looking at it all wrong. So, I'll just go at it on what I consider to be close up or not.

Brilliant Idea...
It would at least give some insight, to why they scored it low. After all, we do want to learn from it. Although I could see them get lazy, just giving out 4's. lol
ok if u are above a 4.0 don't worry, i have the brown locked down as mine at this point even if you have a 4.3 you kick my backside so wipe your brow and know someone is finishing under you and just be glad i entered this challenge... heh.
I know it is very difficult to believe that I shot that photo, but I did. So, waiting for SC to validate it right now. Whomever you're, I thank you for that :)
It is the MOST interesting shot of all entries... you'll see at the end :)
Here is the problem though. Most creative ones lack of quality, the ones are usual stuff have better quality. I don't think I've seen anything Roz, DrAchoo or IreneM quality process in new creations. That's one of the problems here. What we have to do is encourage people try not only idea wise, but also quality wise as well.
I appreciated your challenge to do something different and although my chosen genre isn't unusual, I tried something I'd never tried successfully before. Currently I'm not paying for it with my score as it's sitting more than 1.7 points above my free study... :)

Luci11e In your comments on my photo you wondered if it was a macro. It was taken with a macro lens and I was about 2 inches away from the subject matter when I took it. So it's definitely a macro!!!

That's a pretty miserable score for an image which meets the challenge and is a very good close-up of the subject of my choice. I knew when I submitted the image that it was not a macro... using the traditional definition of macro. But, a traditionally defined macro image was NOT the requirement of the challenge. The description reads, "Get up close and personal with the subject of your choice. You need not specifically use your macro feature, but your image should be a close-up shot." My image is absolutely, definitely a close-up showing very good detail. Yet, the votes indicate much DNMC sentiment. I'm really not surprised (nor angry) at the score, as it seems very common in recent weeks for voters to define challenges more narrowly than indicated by the challenge description. It's probably the "Macro" title of the challenge which gives people license to vote down on images not like their own. And, the attempt to expand the scope of this challenge by adding the "close up" descriptive text should be deleted to match the preconceived notions of the voters. I like my image and I'm not complaining about my score, as a close-up image in a Macro challenge should not be expected to perform.
