DISCLAIMER: I love the new "Site Favorites" section and wouldn't change a thing about it, so the following criticism of the idea is only meant to lead in to another site suggestion.
The very nature of a favorites section that shows the top X number of photographers and their work means that it can be very easy for people to only look at those at the top and add them to their favorites list. This contributes to keep those photos and photogs at the top. Kind of the idea of the rich get richer.
What if, in order to allow everybody some equal exposure, we had a photog of the hour (pick your time limit), or something similar. (And yes, I'm stealing the idea from another site.) The photog's 4-10 best scoring photos could be highlighted along with a link to the rest of their work. This would allow the "unknowns" (in terms of the favorites section) some recognition time and a chance for people to think, "Oh yeah! I remember that photo, that was one of my favorites..." and add them to their list.
It could be set up to be totally random -- or random until a photog has been highlighted and then not again until all other photogs have been highlighted, or... there's a number of ways it could work. Maybe if you're on a top list, you wouldn't get highlighted at all. I don't know. That part I haven't thought through completely.
