On Tuesday Hurricane Igor blew through eastern Newfoundland. I went out to take a few photos until I got scared (!) of the wind and falling trees. Small streams and rivers were overflowing, roads were flooded, trees falling down onto power lines, traffic lights ripped from poles. We lost power around 3 pm on Tuesday and did not get it back until 1 am this morning. Here are a few pictures, mostly from the damage after the storm. Our house wasn't damaged, no flooding near us, no downed trees. But all over the city it's a mess. Not all of the power is back on yet. In other parts of the province roads are completely gone, even reports of houses and one man swept away by the flood waters.
The one with the pink house? The uprooted trees? That looks like some sort of demented, post-modern landscaping, landscaping-as-art-form. Weird photo. I'm glad you and yours are OK, Karen.
