SPAIN! A guy I work with is finally getting married to this awesome woman who is just about the nicest person you will ever meet and they asked if I would shoot their wedding. They are two of my favorite people so I told them I would even though I have refused to do weddings in the past. Then they break the news to me that it is in Spain and they want to fly my wife and me over there. Seriously? You want to fly me to Spain to take pictures at your wedding in an old castle? Hmmm... OK! Not sure of all the specifics because the wedding is in 2012, but so what! I am in heaven today.
Just wanted to share my luck with people who would truly appreciate it.
Cool! But remember that it is also a HUGE responsibility...shooting for family or friends can have disastrous effects on friendships should things go wrong. I was asked to shoot a cousin's wedding last February as the primary photographer, I made it clear that I had NEVER shot weddings as the primary photographer before and that should I screw up, they were on their own and I will NOT take responsibility for said screw up. They agreed. I gave them all the shots on a USB key and processed a few (about a dozen shots) and gave them the printable files.
That's a biggie! I would be practicing shooting weddings to be sure that I would be comfortable shooting them. If you have info about the location, you may be able to find out a lot about the place on line.
There may be a DPC'er near the location who would go check it out for you as well, and give you some good info about what's there to work with or work around.
I think that I would also look into renting a backup camera and lens, just in case there is a glitch of any kind, so you will have that possibility covered.

Thanks. I am definitley going to work in some weddings between now and then. I get asked a lot to do them, so I am sure an opportunity will come up. If not, I will go find one.
Funny enough, I had my teef in last night, along with some bubble-lens glasses. My wife was on video-Skype, so I had to hover over her shoulder for a minute.
