Does anyone else here use their timer or a remote control to take their challenge pics? I did for the waiting challenge and placed 93rd. It was my first challenge and in my first week of owning a digital camera. (nikon D-70) I also used my remote for the Desat challenge. It is sitting at 6.4163 with 209 votes. I am thinking of doing the same for the extraordinary challenge too. I love my tripod!
I use timer for long exposures as I don't have a remote.

I got my camera recently as well and desat is my 3rd challenge. My first one for Waiting was 272 out of 309 and the second one for Choices was 74 out of 227. My average for desat is around 5.5.
Xion, you should consider getting a remote. I think it's worth its weight in gold. How do you like your D-70? I was put on a 1 month waiting list to get it and the same for the remote. Both were worth the wait!
Of course, I don't have a DSLR, or a remote, but I have found the timer on my camera to be invaluable. I also found a nifty little thread herefor those of us who, if we had the time or the wherewithall, to make one if we don't have the remote option. I thought it was kind of cool! :o)

I am actually thinking of buying one. I was thinking about it even yesterday.
I love the camera. It's well designed - pretty easy to change settings. I haven't been able to do much with it though since I am home recovering from a surgery.

As far as the remote, I lucked out. Had one left over from years ago that I used with my Elan IIe and works great with my 300D. I use it and MLU (thanks to the hack) alot.
I use the remote, or timer (Depending on mood) for 99% of my tripod shots.
Both my Multiple light sources entry, and the waiting one were done with the wireless remote + 2second timer on my camera. Both came out tack sharp.
The way I look at it, if you've gone to the trouble to set up the tripod to frame an image, why would you not use a short timer or remote?
If you're anything like me you've already spent 10 minutes fiddling around with the tripod, changing camera settings, checking the exposure, re-adjusting the tripod, changing camera settings, taking a test shot to see the histogram, changing settings, adjusting the tripod, moving the whole thing to the left 2 feet, taking another test shot, adjusting the settings, re-positioning the dead bug, checking the histogram, shifting to manual focus, setting the white balance off a white hankie.... etc. etc. etc.
Another 2 seconds on the timer dosn't hurt that much, does it? :-).
