Honestly, though, I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone who asks about UV filters; unless you have to have protection from corrosive or abrasive materials, don't use them. Use the lens hood, and don't introduce more glass into the optical path. It can never do the image quality any good, and will certainly do some harm, though perhaps small. |
I totally agree with krbic. I have done tests on my 70-200L f2.8 using a hoya super hmc uv filter. Surprisingly I could notice a small degradation of image quality. Enough to warrant not running the filter. So unless your in a dirty, or lens scratceable place don't bother.
B and H make some great filters using schnider optical glass. Pricey but apparently worth the quality investment. Tiffen/ Cannon wise, they will probably be similar, not bad... |
