Wouldn't it be great to be the site photographer? Taking pictures of a history we never experienced?
On the other hand, isn't it sad that everyone knows about it now?

Well, I took some time to read through a percentage of the posts to the Yahoo news article and was everything from amazed to entertained to offended.
I do find it simply amazing that something like this has existed this way with the apparent knowledge of so many for so long that it received so little press. It could be one of the most incredible hoaxes of the 21st century, or it could be an incredible archeological find. Both have happened before and sometimes what appears to be real is later discovered to be fabricated.
In either case, it sounds like an incredible opportunity to be involved in a 'significant news event' with potentially exciting ramifications either way. Maybe we'll see photos from someone within the next week in a major magazine or paper, or not.
I'm pretty familiar with the area, and I certainly think this is possible and plausible. I myself have discovered granaries and structures that, to my knowledge, no one had seen before me. They are still rare and endangered, and should still be left alone, but this revelation is amazing!
$2.5 million? That's IT? He was paid $2.5 million? gah
I'd love to see it too actually. There was nothing like Bandolier and Mesa Verde - apparently until now!. I remember those sites like it was yesterday.
Good for him for keeping it a secret for all those years!
Found this on the web. Interesting reading, sites the details on page 46. Apparently the news is just now getting a hold of it. There are any number of sites that have data regarding the Wilcox Ranch sale (near Price) and the government had been finagling (sp?) getting the funds for a while and finally got them all in 01-02. Definitely an intersting, unusual situation. Fremont Indians are kind of a catch all for a several state range of hunter gatherers so if it is real, it would be an interesting site to visit.
