Thanks... getting a little better with the HDR... now if I could just learn how to sharpen images. LOL!!!
Btw, Mae, I'd just driven 350 miles overnight from my newest photo treasure where I'd been doing some reconnaissance photography. I car camped there while getting to know the lay of the land. I was stoked on cold Truck Stop coffee at the time I took the above picture. :)
Mae... you'd really like that new photo site I'd just come from... it has 1,600 wild horses! I saw about 40 of them galloping across the sage brush free as the desert is wild with their manes streaming in the wind. It was awesome!
Oh Steve...post the photos! I'm excited to see it! Now, where did you say that location was?! Inquiring minds want to know...;-)
Sorry to say, but inquiring minds will have to wait a while longer. ;)
My first short visit there was just to get to know the place, talk with locals and learn as much as I could in the time I was there. I went on a lark for a couple days unsure it was even worth the effort. I took some pictures but nothing earth shattering. I might post some BWs. I won't get any really good captures until fall when I plan for a longer stay.
The place is called The Red Desert and is located in and around the Great Divide Basin. It is a curious mixture of remote wilderness and oil/gas exploration.
You can be sure wild horses will be high on my photographic agenda. I did not get close enough to the first group to get anything decent but I will next time.

That picture was taken at Schwabacher's Landing. It isn't the picture for which it is best known but I liked the tree arrangement.
There are 4 world class photo sites in that area just a few miles from each other. They are:
1-The Mormon Barns
2-Schwabacker's Landing
3-The Snake River Overlook (of Ansel Adams fame)
4-Oxebow Bend
There are probably a lot of other equally good sites. It is a beautiful area.
