I'll tell you what's extraordinary -- my Choices entry was a Personal Best, came with a wonderful comment from Kiwiness, and was my first entry with my new Rebel. Thanks to ALL who commented; I appreciated each and every one. (It's just that I do the "I'm not worthy" thing when I think of Kiwiness...).
By the way, I learned a couple of things. Did I do better because my camera was better than my old one? Yes, and no. Yes, the shot was crisper with the 50mm 1.8 lens than the A70 and the background came out whiter. (I took the same shot with both cameras.) So the camera helped. But no, the new camera didn't create the composition or drape the ribbon around the apple and chocolate (I was hoping people would notice the "waistline" of the apple was in the low 30's, while the chocolate had the 50's, but no one commented about that...) and the new camera didn't come up with the original idea.
So I learned it's a combination of the photographer AND the equipment, at least in this shot!

Sorry I didn't comment about that! I didn't notice it the first time I saw it but as I was going back through them with a friend we both noticed it and thought it was a wonderful addition to an already great shot!

Yes I did! I was refedrring to his remark made during the challenge. Now, your comment causes me to go back to my picture, and find a few comments left AFTER the challenge, and I've now marked them helpful as well. Thanks! :-)

Are we supposed to shoot something 'mundane' and make it look extraordinary? Or are we supposed to shoot something that is.. well.... extraordinary? What is extraordinary? How many times can you use the word extraordinary in a post?

For a ten-year-old, her mathematical abilities are quite extraordinary.

This week's Open Challenge is referring to the previous Mundane challenge which had the description "Take something ordinary and make it look extraordinary." So this challenge is sort of the opposite of "mundane" -- you're supposed to find something extraordinary and photograph that (but don't make it look mundane!)
It certainly is not implying that the newspaper challenge was "mundane".
