That reminds me of the Zenith Sniper SLR from the '70s! What you need to do now, is rig the cable release to the trigger!
I've also made diffusers out of waxed paper, floating floor stuff and Chapman's ice cream containers...and made reflectors from chunks of cardboard with that super-reflective heat-tape stuff on them. And many a backdrop, plain white or coloured, has cost me all of $1 CDN from the loonie store!
