I think this was taken from a very average point of view... or perhaps, in other words, not intimate enough. It feels like you were walking by and popped a shot. The colors are also a muddy magenta, where that combined with a dof that leaves no isolation of the bug to make it stand out.
If you try this again, I would suggest a far shallower dof, closer in at an eye-to-eye vantage point or even looking upward to the subject. Bring people a view that's uncommon. F2.8 or 3.5, somewhere near the sweet-spot, would have made this jump.
