I like to shoot macro ... I got a 100mm macro for Christmas but haven't really used it. This would be a good opportunity to kick me in the backside and see if I can come up with anything decent.
I much preferred my 50 mm even though it was not a 1:1 and it did help me get over my fear of honey bees. So if you will have me, I would like to join. I will prob not post all that often but I will try to comment on most of the shots.
I wish I had a macro lens. ;( I'll play if you'll consider closeups macro's. LOL!
U can use a magnifying glass on an 18-55mm lens.... its what i used to do back in the day...
LOL! I don't have an 18-55 either. I have a Canon 28-135 & a Tamron 28-300. Technically the 28-300 also does macro, but in reality, not really.
U can prob do a magnifying glass with it too... give it a try! you hold it about an inch to three inches from what you are tyring to shoot.... it takes some getting used to but it does work.... let me dig and see if I have any of my examples... it was a long long time ago!
This was taken with a point and shoot... cheapy camera... and a magnifying glass... the camera was about 3 inches or so from the mag glass and the mag class was abt 3 inches from sunflower. it does work.

I've been playing with my new 5DMKII and got my macro lens out that is what inspired me wanting to do this. I just love shooting something for me instead of for clients and editors. Thanks Caree, but there are people on this site that just plain rock a macro lens. I just toy with it. Quality doesn't matter in side challenges, it's just to participate and have fun, get you shooting and try and learn something along the way. i love doing them, they fit my crazy schedule much better then weekly challenges.
