So where do old SLR film people that have ruined themselves with point n shoots, and just got back into the Real World of Digital go and ask stooopid questions... Got a Nikon D90 not quite a month ago, refused to set it on auto... I will learn to shoot again! I need all the advice ya'll take for granted.. Like HOW do I unbracket my focus!! See really stoooopid questions! Looking forward to learning stuff here!
You are in the right place for asking stupid questions and receiving equally stupid answers. These free guides from photoanswers.uk may be useful to you in understanding a lot of the basics.
What do you mean by unbracket your focus? I'm not a Nikon owner. Does the D90 have a feature for automatic focus bracketing?
You're in excellent company! I was in the same boat about 6 months ago, and have never looked back. (Except to make sure none of the loonies on here are prowling around behind me.)

I bet if you look in the manual it will tell you how to unbracket! ;-) Or are you like me and hate reading the manual till you absolutely have to?
Manual??? You mean I should read it? LOL And yes my D90 has a bracketing focus areas... now alls I have to do is to figure out where in the menu I changed it back to single focus area... LOONIES in here ohhh surely not.. And yes I bit the big one and entered a challenge... getting a Flack helmet out for the voteing... (is there any way to post NEWBIE do not throw stones, on your photo?)

I don't think you got my point. Don't be afraid of the stone throwers, looks like you are doing a good job at throwing them back. We can see your average vote cast that you have given to the images that are currently in challenges. A 3.8 is a low average vote cast for the most part......hence, the term "throwing the stones back". I am only bringing up this point because of your above statement about "throwing stones at your photo."
However, I do want to welcome you to this site. It is a great site for learning and meeting people that thoroughly enjoy photography. I do hope you continue to enter challenges and learn from the many great photographers that are here. This is a terrific community of people.
Scream eeeks... you mean some one can see my voteing scores??? Ahhh crap, that'll keep me from being honest... But, to justify my lower scores on LOTS of shots... "the camera bag" was advanced editing, So I kept that formost in my mind, then the origionaly of the photographer, the colors, lighting, composition, and lastly my personal do I like this photo.... Although I am not an Expert photographer of Digital art, I have judged quite a few Film prints back in the day... (lurking back to the shadows of the rocks now)

Yes, please stay honest and vote what you feel it deserves. Everyone here has a different scale for voting, but if you decide to hand out low votes you may want to add a comment on why you did that. Voting threads pop up all the time around here so you can easily find some background if interested.

Thanks Ken, I do intend to stay honest, but I will give comments, I did on the ones I deememd exceptional. That is one of the reason's I joined this site, was to get critique on my shots... whether they like them or not I do want to know why, espically the bad ones. I've always learned more by my mistakes than my sucess's (in all aspects of life)

All good points as to why you would vote a photo a certain way, but please remember that DPC Advanced Editing is not 'all is free and open' editing.
There are very specific and limiting rules that are allowed in Advanced editing - no new shapes or objects created. Cloning is allowed but only to remove imperfections and minor distractions. It is not digital art in any way shape or form, and many (including me) typically use editing that would be allowed in Basic challenges. IMO, it should be about the photograph, not the editing...but the editing should only enhance the photo, not create it.
