In all of the major North American leagues histories only 3 times prior to tonight has a team come back in a best of 7 series trailing 3-0n to win the series. I am still shaking my head. If you appreciate sport you should appreciate this feat. Congrats Flyers! The series with Montreal should be epic. Hmmmmm lemme see. The 1972 Summit Series, the Canadien vs Red Army game of New Year's Eve 1975, the 1979 Conference Finals between Montreal and Boston, the 1980 Miracle on Ice Game, the 1987 Canada Cup Finals... and I am certain quite a few others would make this game look dull by comparison.

I read that this was only the 4th time in North American pro sports history that a team has come back from 3 down.... huge comeback.

And the Red Sox did it to the Yanks on their way to their world series win a few years ago. I wonder if these are the other 3? Or have there been more? Ironically, the Flyers did to Boston's hockey team what Boston's baseball team did to the Yankees :-)
Just in response to Chico's remark; I can understand that his achievement from 1975 may now feel a little less special or significant to him, but that win by his team will always remain part of history. He should be proud to be part of that. Records and achievements will always be challenged. That's just part of the allure of sports.

Was that the Ice Age Cup series played outdoors??? According to the Wayback Machine Ray chiseled a cave message saying he was offered to go to the game but turned it down because it couldn't possibly be better than what he had already seen before.

Hmmm... actually I do remember playing on outdoor rinks exclusively up till the time I reached midgets and artificial ice after that. I quit playing hockey in my 50's because when someone asked my daughter what position I played, she answered: "At his age, usually prone".
The "Ice Age Cup" was played outdoors in the"Canadian Shield Region" and the pucks then consisted of Precambrian rocks which doubled as weapons. Tough games they were too... where the term "Shortened Bench" usually meant the demise of a few of the players.
They just don't make hockey like that anymore. :O)

Thx for pointing out what was already mentioned in the OP. So now you are a Habs fan. Good for you. This should be a good series. I put my $$ on the Flyers. Too much depth and a variety of scoring that the Canadiens haven't seen. Shutting down Ovechkin and Crosby was easy compared to having to shut down our 3 lines that can score. Not to mention our defensive capabilities. I'll take our offense vs Montreal defense and our defense against Montreal offense all series long. If even just a smudge of luster rubs off of Halek, you can say goodbye to les habs.
