Gil, from my understanding, i think to have thumbnails the pictures have to be in your portfolio on DPChallenge...then you use the "Insert Thumbnail to Link" button.
for some god awful reason, I was blessed with the ability to photography Metal Objects without blowing out their highlights. More specifically, Motorcycles and Automobiles. I hope some of my photos make EZRider soon!
I don't think I have a niche either. When I look at all my challenge pictures they seem a very eclectic collection. All sorts of styles and types. When I'm voting on the challenges I can tell who did so many of the pictures just because of the style of the picture or the subject matter, not just dramatic pictures like the Heida's does but a lot of other people, too. Often times, my husband looks through the pictures with me before I vote and I'll be saying - that one is Zoomdak's, that's Bobster Lobster's, that's Willem's, that's Mocabela's the list could go on and on.
Sometimes, I wonder if people can ever spot mine, if I have a certain style that I don't see.
... and many many more... people in theyr natural habitat doing theyr everyday things, that's what I like to do the most. I keep trying other stuff too but they never seem to work so well, so I guess this is my thing.
Working on using my camera to capture some unusual views...that past challenge kinda sparked me...Like to use interesting views with "street photgraphy" perhaps gutter views or low views to catch what a ant might see...always sticking my camera places that are wierd or wouldn't think about before.
going towards simple shots, b/w with neg. spaceing of white color...however, my subjects have to be very interesting to look at and mostly with color added....I have a photo done with a building, an intersting building and view with very vivid color...it's neat I think...post soon..still working out the details to the image...and the style of my own.
Also too, photos that a theme to them within a series.
Working on a Pano shot of progression of seasons all in one continous shot.
I do love or found a small niche in getting great storm fronts (seasonal)....inspired. More about the chase of the storm and dangerous winds/hail/ and tornados. I haven't cought one yet...

Funny, I have a water tower shot from last week I took....it's in my backlot of photos to work on later....has something to do with the white nature of the tower pipes and curves with shadows that seem to get my attention of such otherwise, mudane objects....I think I know where you are going and thinking here about water towers...good luck..:) Besides, what else can you shoot out in BFE? :)
I think I fit in the out-of-the box group... Trying new things and scoring low for it.
For me this is one of the most memorable shots on the site. Tragic, but a great observation - and an example of how technical perfection is irrelevant sometimes.

I'm glad I'm not insane... thank you for understanding!!!! There are at least 10 or so that I pass by every day to and from work... and they are different colors, shapes, styles... I'm just fascinated with them and their surrounding natural habitat... I'll shut up now, I sound like a nut!

What is so neat about a creative mind is that it can be unlimited with visions in taken something (watertowers) and giving the world a new look on how we see them through the artist's eyes. I say be wild and crazy with the idea....sounds that you have much to work with here....colors, designs, as well natural elements that could be used as well...snow background, rain, stormy clouds...all used with the contrast of colors from the towers...or two, perhaps make a "digital art work" out of all (10)...and say screw the integerity of a photo...break some rules and then make up your own, so others can break THEM...:) Again, this is what this forum is about; finding yourself within the images that you take.
