to me, all this discussion is pretty much academic, i.e. a fun way to pass the time while i'm waiting for renders and backups and such.
i believe that ultimately logic should govern all, and consistency is part of the same framework as logic. at some point in time, you had given the impression that you were also governed by rational conclusions. therefore, i would think you would like it pointed out that your behavior is inconsistent with your stated ideals.
i say all that i have said in the most objective, non-condemnatory way possible, with zero emotional involvement, although possibly a little bit of playful attitude ; )
I personally could care less if you use profanity in every other sentence. I don't like the name calling, which is what I deleted. Also, personal attacks are not allowed in the rules. Since I am what hokie calls a "hall monitor", I'm just doing my job.
That's the first time I have censored anyone and don't get the idea that I will do it all the time. I'm pretty tolerant as long as it doesn't get personal.

In reference to the original post, I agree that this photographer is good. I also think there are a lot of photographers on this site who haven't gotten the attention they deserve. That will change with time I believe.
It seems ridiculous to me to complain about an image "only" finishing in the top 20. The image in question is good, but so all are the other in the top 20. I personally would be very happy to finish that well.

I am in my first challenge right now, and I am sure that I will place in the bottom half for reasons I have already discussed to death.
It was not the artist complaining, it was one of his fans saying we "ripped him off". I just think that is silly. There are so many tastes and backgrounds here we cannot expect our personal favorite to win. BTW, mine this time is "Black and Chrome".
To me, a placement in the top 20% shows that the viewers thought the work was of high quality, and this is a tough group.

what it says to me is that people voted him down because he worded his title wrong. i can point out a few pictures from every challenge which are superior to ones ranked higher. then i can show you that the ones of higher rank only got their because of their subject

I got pictures that I like every week that rank from first to the bottom. I think I'm right...you think you're right.
As I remember..I liked several of your photos even thought they didn't rank in the top 20 or so. Some would say I was wrong..some would say I was right.
If you think your opinion is superior to everyone else's, why don't you start your own personal contest?
