The shot for this challenge is way better than the only other challenge I have entered. But for some reason it is barely beating the score I got on that one.
I had a hard time picking a photo for this. I submitted and withdrew two shots before submitting the final entry. I have shots I like better but I was trying to actually score somewhat high so I went with a popular type of subject matter. I had a few variations of the shot and I went with the my husband's suggestion instead of my first choice. At the last minute I changed my mind and wanted to submit a different one but it needed a bit of work. I just didn't have the time. My score started out really low at first--my lowest ever at 3.0---but it is steadily climbing to my usual range. :-D I'm glad that now I can add some shots to my portfolio that I've been withholding in case I decided to use them for this challenge.

My one comment so far was a fairly neutral, 'nice shot, good luck' kind of thing.
I think some people will suffer from thumbnail voting on this entry because there are so many to vote on. I'm proud to say that I actually voted on them all, including revisions in which I upped the scores of several photos. I voted pretty generously on this challenge.
My June Free Study is doing much worse than I thought it would, around 4.6 now. The only comment on it is positive so I don't know why. Since it is one of my favorite pictures ever I don't really mind that much.
Laurie you are online so much i dont know when you find time to take the pictures. Not that im complaining its nice to have friendly people here to talk to.
...it's called "personal fulfillment." I am happier than I have been in ages now that I've found a hobby that is truly mine, and that I have some itty bit of affinity for...it really is kind of like a drug, I guess! :o)
7.04 in the Portrait challenge, but I'm sure there are two entries scoring even higher. Even if I can't snag some yellow pixels, I'll still be thrilled to top 7 (assuming it holds). That's been a major goal, and I didn't expect this shot to be the one.
Someone put me out of my misery and DQ mine!!

UGH!
Oh well, a couple of comments
"Fantastic shot - 10" and "This is the best use of effects on a picture that I have seen in a long time, great job" lay truth to it not being everyone's style.
Oh well, I love it and that's what counts!
(At least I voted almost every single entry in this challenge higher than mine is sitting - great job all.)
Ooops, I did a big no no I think. I submitted two pictures I knew were not all that great anyway because I felt like I had to enter, IT SHOWS TOO. But at the same time, its hard to tell what John Doe Public would think is good, I know I have a different eye for things, was always told I must have been born sideways. Plus I am partially color blind, so everything I see is different.
