ETA: To clarify, I don't have a problem posting others' photos from their portfolios in certain threads (like this one), but as stated, it's not what we've been doing in this thread - even though the original post instructions did not call for any images at all - I just think it's more fun, challenging, and relevant to the site.

I actually don't think there is anything wrong with showing images from DPC on DPC... at all.

In fact, I would be honored if someone wanted to talk about my image.

When I posted that, it was my first post. When I looked back all I saw were people using their own images, so I inquired.

I do like to credit the photographer whenever I use an image of theirs for anything.

Are there any rules about using the same word?

I thought the gist of the game is to post a word that no one can come up with another word?

The rules have sort of evolved on their own. Slowly. Over the past ten years. TBH, the four letter words have been fairly well played out. I'd be ok with closing this out and starting a part III with five letters.

It was tried with 5 letters but became bogged down even more than it does with 4 and so it returned to 4. Maybe one change could be changing the position of two letters within a word as a variation of the change one letter idea. (Carp could become crap etc.)

I still don't like the concept of using someone else's photo. It's a bit like snatching a domino tile from another player's pile in the physical game of dominoes.

i would prefer if we just use our own photos ..
if ppl want to use other people's photos why not start another thread for that ..??..
and after reading what Marion said about using 5 letters .. i'd want to stick to 4 ..
and just changing one letter suits me .. but I'm flexible re that ..

I like your idea. So, either replace ONE letter OR SWAP two?

I think this could open things up a bit, especially but not confined to, a way to progress when the only way out seems to be to go back a step or two.

What do others think?
