BTW, just for the record, I won't be joining this competition because I will be administrating it. However, all other SC are fair game if any of you feel like trying to entice one on board :-)
I thought you & Langdon would join forces and call yourselves "The Administrators". With that level of access, you'd be unbeatable. :P
As I do the math now, we need 16 more people to sign up in 2 weeks to get the minimum of 120 people for 5-person teams.
Of the teams finalized five have 7 and one has 6, so that would require pulling 11 people off of finalized teams.
Last time we had a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 9, so if we were to do something similar (min of 5, max of 7) then we need at least 27 more people to sign up in 2 weeks provided none of the teams not yet finalized have more than 5 players.
So I guess the billion dollar question is can we somehow get 2 new people a day to sign up for DPL out of the 107K emails that went out? If we can't it's really sort of sad.
That's the number Robert posted. And yeah, as you might expect with a mailing of that bulk, spam detectors had a field day. Would be great if a second batch could be sent in a slightly less meat-flavored way.
Mine went to my Spam folder as well. I occasionally have this problem with my work email as well so that I now tend to send duplicates from my Gmail account at the same time. It's a right pain in the arse.
I'm just now finding the place where invitations are . . . I know, I know, I'm slow. Got one e-mail notification and went looking. Here's what my "box" looks like:
Of course there is an actual team name and actual user names but I changed all except the next to last which is me. What are all these things? Have I been invited to eight teams? Or only one? I haven't accepted anything so I'm thinking where it says (accepted invitation) those are for others and THEY have accepted them? I know I'm supposed to be polite and either accept OR refuse any invitation that's actually for me and I certainly don't want to be rude, but neither do I want to start clicking around on stuff I don't understand and find myself on three teams or zero teams with no chance of getting on one or messing someone else up . . . HELP
Kind of like back in school waiting to be picked for the team (and hoping you weren't picked last). :-D
Why don't a few of you start teams and invite the people from the list? There is enough people there for 6 teams.
Yes! Anyone with a blue shirt can be a captain and build a team. Why wait to be picked, just go forth and start a team. If we don't get enough teams, we don't get to dpl.

I finally figured this out. All these users have been invited by one team captain to be on the team. At the time I saw this, three had accepted their invitations; three (including me) had yet to do so.
Drat! Even though I keep telling gmail that DPC is NOT spam -- everything's going into the spam folder. I received an invitation and didn't know it. I'm afraid that the vast majority of people might not be seeing the emails and invites. :(
