LOL, that almost makes we actually WANT to go vote & comment on the lot...
Good for you! Go for it!
I didn't submit a below average image, but the voters, so far, are targeting it for their low end votes. Participation here has lost its appeal to me.

You just had back to back top 10s.
It's a sports thing. To be legitimately considered a dynasty you've got to win three in a row. Two is nice, but not really a dynasty. You have to admit, the Hahn Dynasty would've been pretty cool. Though we can't completely rule it out yet. It's early.
Purty darn thrilled with this score with so many great images in this challenge. Will vote later when I get on the home computer.

I faced two problems with selecting an image for this challenge...
1. The bulk of my lifetime images were converted to DNG format immediately and so, should I become lucky enough to top 5 in the challenge I would be DQ'd immediately.
2. I've already had the opportunity to "go into my portfolio" twice in the 6 months I've been a member, so what little I had had been mined already.
Given the level of stuff that comes out for these I was debating using one of the DNG-based images anyway figuring it would at least score well, and if I got DQ'd it would be my first, so no harm, no foul. But, I instead decided to go with what I consider to be a really good, well shot and well processed image (one I've sold multiple copies of at a friend's gallery), but one I knew lacked the "wow factor" that seems to be required for most of the less thoughtful voters here to take a pause and actually look at it rather than giving it a knee-jerk 3-to-5 or throwing an uncommented 1 or 2 at it because "Holy crap, not another flower/cat/kid/still-life - how many of these do I have to look at?!" I was pleased as heck this morning as it was at 6.5 with almost 20 votes. I thought, "Wow, maybe I'm wrong about this place?!"
I wasn't wrong. 13 votes later and it's barely a 6.
Now, I suspect had this been in a subject-specific challenge it wouldn't have suffered thusly. But there seems to be something about this place that grades everything on a curve ("I can't possibly give out five 10's in a challenge - I don't think I've given out five 10's in the last ten challenges combined!!"), so 8's will be 5's and 6's in this, and that can be disheartening as hell. I almost walked several times because of it. But I'm over it, though I suspect I will be avoiding "Free Study" types from now on because, frankly, while I've been doing very well of late, better work has suffered at the hands of callous voting, and it does piss one off.
I've also noticed what I've come to call "revenge voting". When big challenges finally release, people wake up to find that their dreams of high scores have been dashed on the rocks, so they go to check out what could possibly be doing better than theirs and they play General Sherman and burn down everything in sight. I find this happens between 9AM and 12PM ET on Free Study and big challenge release days like today when a good many of us are getting into work and checking this place. It happens far less predictably on other days, but on the morning of the 1st of the month, duck and cover.
I said stop voting! :) Just kidding, keep it up! I'm sure I deserve my final score, whatever it may be. My entry is not THE best, but it is MY best, so I'm still excited. I'm not even close to being in the same league as most of you guys, but I still enjoy competing alongside you and sometimes get your feedback. Who knows, maybe one day... :)

Wow! There is some really great work in that gallery!
I gave two 10s.
ten 9s.
thirty-six 8s.
and a bunch of 7s.

What a refreshing attitude! I remember feeling this way when I started. Hold onto this feeling as long as you can.
