Oh, MAN... I wish I hadn't looked. Totally creepy. I really wasn't going to look, because I thought the subject line sounded silly... But that REALLY looks like a creepy woman.
I think (and perhaps I'm just trying to not be so freaked out) that perhaps I see a minor outline similar to the "woman's" in the daylight photo. Maybe those facial features are out of focus snow falling in the background that just happens to be in an one-in-a-million formation in the right exact spot, showing a face?
There is a similar shape to her body on the daylight photo, but I think thats from light coming thru the leaves on the trees - which wouldn't happen at night. Also the rest of the shot is in focus, and the depth of field wouldnt suddenly make snow flakes out of focus when the house is in focus. There is a wall behind so they wouldn't be that much further away - not far enough to be out of focus anyway.
I know you said you were outside, but it almost looks like you took the image through a window and this was a reflection on the window. I know this isn't the case, just what it kind of looks like. Good luck figuring out if your yard is haunted.
Cool and freaky!! I love finding ghosts in pictures that don't have a good explanation. I have a very freaky ghost picture that i would love to post, but its on film and i don't have a scanner at the momment. I will try though to find a way to show you guys, its a really scary image.
I would suggest you look into the history of your hosue Ben - and perhaps move..
Awwwww, why move? Not all ghosts are mean-spirited and if he hasnt experienced anything bad before or since that image then chances are he probably wont. In some cases ghosts increase the value of the house too, esp if you have documented evidence and history. Besides, it's pretty cool and exciting!
The best I've gotten are soul spots in the graveyard, but they are still pretty cool and 'magical'.

The face (well, actually just the hair and the outline of the face) is visible in the shaping of the rocks as well. The backsloping of the rock-face also explains why 'she' looks like her head is slightly disconnected in the night shots.
Any chance of seeing similar shots taken under similar lighting conditions (minus the snow).
I'll take some tonight. The lighting was just a flash - no moonlight cos since it was snowing the cloud cover would be pretty thick. I'll take some with a flash, and some with a long exposure, see what comes out :)
come on now, on the daylight pictures, you can see clearly that there are a barrel (big bucket) and a pile of grass beside the shack (again, don't know if it's spelled right)..the 'woman' you see is merely the dimmed light of your flash on the pile of grass, edged by the barrel..you can see the same unstraight line from the barrel there where her 'skirt' could be..that's it! The face is just because your brain makes it a 'face', there where the tree is, I see 'faces' too!!
Holy bejeez. That edited photo scared the crap out of me. Before I thought the woman was a PROFILE, seeing that face. Good LORD. Thanks a lot. I *had* to look while I'm sitting here in the house all alone. I'm not even going to look at the little girl photo. NO WAY. Goodness.

oh yeah; and never enter this type stuff in a competition, people refuse to see your "face" and ridicule you, as they did to, in the folowing photo,refusing to see a jesus type face, even though it does look like bob hope a bit;)
Here is a merged picture of the results I got from two different photo programs when trying to bring out the details of the "Ghost". It looks like a woman with her hands on her hips. It looks like it could be a relection from somewhere but I don't know where if you were standing outside. It is a very strange phenomenon.
I took the source photo, converted to CMYK and dropped 53% of the red using the channel mixer. I then substituted all yellow elements in the image with fuscia, to isolate the facial features. Here is the result...

Any chance this is a case of burt/stuck pixels on the rebel? You said these were old picture so it's probably too late to tell. Did you take any pictures around that time of anyone like that in that area of the frame?
Yeah, I know it sounds far fetched... cause you'd probably see other stuff in the picture too if this was the case.. just brainstorming.

More like Bob Hope. This one was on purpose, but same outcome in challenges. "Seeing" things that are not really there, is alot of the fun of shooting pics. The log pic, you can see a few "spirits" in it, just depends on how you look at it. Ben;s shot, is still pretty creepy, even though it can be explained...sorta. (C:
