Kiwi had overtaken Setz as the site's favourite photographer just before the thread where Setz demanded the removal of his tutorials.
The way it's phrased above suggests that Kiwi only achieved the status because Setz retreated - which kind of takes something away from it and isn't actually the case.
I have 64 favorite photographers in my profile. Each one of them I chose for their photography skills, imagination and hard work.
I love kiwi's shots and he is one of my favorites, but I would have to say I can not choose a #1 photographer. I like all 64 of them.

As Sonifo has pointed out there is vast group of very talented photographers here.
I love Kiwi and he knows I do.
I think we're really luck to be in their company. DPC is oozing with talented folks.
As Sonifo said, I don't think there is a need to side with a certain photographer, or pick favorites. But it is interesting to see what photographers people like.
I hope I get oozed on! lol
It's true tha I'm having a lot of fun, but my new favorite photographer seems to be having more fun than any one of us: Mundi. What a nut! lol Hats off, man.

I don't know if registered users can do it but members can see who are their favorites photographers as measured by their votes in challenges. From your Profile page click on "view all" in the Favorites box mid-left. Then click on "Manage Your Favorites!"; then click on "View your statistically favorite photographers" to see who you have voted the highest in challenges. You probably ought to disregard the ones with a very low number of votes, maybe only consider those with double digits. It's another way to think about who's pictures you like best.
