I have an idea for proportion. I think a good idea...we'll see.
I cannot explain my take on proportion, just that an idea is in my head that works..trying to discuss it would give it away. I still have to take a successful shot of it of course. LOL
I thought Serendipity would garner more entries. Being somewhat 'free study' as the pre-discussion thought. My 'good idea badly implemented' is just under 5. mroe than respectable for my meager effort (not the effor that went into it, but the resulting pic as entered is my effort.) And i portend to be a native english speaker. LOL
At this point i have high hopes for my Proportion idea.
We need a specific challenge...perhaps '12 oz McDonald coffee cup'. available worldwide, rather specific. for uniqueness, try angle, lighting, background or other props...would get 500 entries! LOL
According to my research, this challenge is anything that is or is not in proportion. In my book that equals, anything.
If it's in proportion to it's surroundings it's good, if it's not, it's good.
Would it not rather be proportion or anti-proportion; e.g., Austin Powers (Mike Myers) and Mini-Me (Verne Troyer) as proportion (or also anti-), and Fat Bastard (Mike) and Beyoncé Knowles (Foxxy Cleopatra) in Goldmember as certainly anti- proportion? not just any ol’ pic.
Well in my opinion, the examples posted so far seem to be about "forced perspective". Whether or not these are good examples of a picture that demonstrates "proportion" is up to the voters, I guess...

I'm having difficulty grasping the "... and be creative" part of this! Can anyone show me how to be creative? :-p
A famous author was addressing a writing workshop ... "Writing is really quite easy, you just sit in a comfortable chair and write things down as they occur to you. Now, the occurring, that's the hard part ..."

architecture (golden rule thing - each story is going up is smaller then that below sort of thing)
human (or animal) body - i.e. i work with a girl whose head seems to be out of proportion to her body, ala Alfred E. Newman. a puppy's large feet, the current McDonalds puppy happy meal toys, etc.
emotional reaction to a situation (reaction is all out of proportion to the event, as in spilt milk making one cry)
I'd say half the time people judge the interpretation.... I just got a comment that they would have voted my serendipty HIGHER if the title did NOT include the object....now where did the rules tell us to do that? I think some folks are getting real wierd for their reasons to vote down a picture...because they did not like the title seems really odd to me.

I try to avoid viewing titles if at all possible. Not possible in this challenge! My most recent comment recevied ' I give it a 1'. tha is their opinion, fine, but why? What could i have done better? Why leave any comment if that is the only one ya got?!
I predict that there'll be ALOT of entries for this challenge, its quite a simple one.. serendipity managed to get 218 entries.
but from what I have seen in the serendipity challenge there is also going to be a lot of 1's given or "does not meet the challenge.
lets say for example serendipity = found fortune then fortune could be a matter of opinion. kinda like using a religious shot in a challenge. to some that could represent fortune but to the "norm" it might not meet the challenge or get a lower score then deserved for being to contraversal.

I judge a picture based on the picture not the title. the title should have very little to do with it, altho in a gallery all pictures are titled.

From the challenge rules, While voting, users are asked to keep in highest consideration the topic of the challenge and base their rating accordingly. So, yes, the quality matters, but -- in the challenge -- interpretation is paramount.
I found the coolest thing for my picture of Proportion...but blast this dang Texas weather...the background is a blah grey sky. Do you think the voters will be nitpicky with that if the subject is SCREAMING proportion?
