Pixley, simply stated, is absolutely the easiest way to share your digital pictures!
Pixley was created by me and a friend to allow you to share your digital pictures online directly from your own PC. It has some of the same qualities as P2P, but Pixley actually makes your directories of pictures into a website accessible from any web browser (even my Handspring Treo 600!).
Pixley is a tiny application that runs on your internet-connected PC and allows your friends and family to view pictures contained on your computer that you have chosen to share. Your friends see your pictures arranged in albums. They can view slideshows, print pictures, and even download the high-resolution version of the picture if available.
Pixley's advantages over e-mailing your pictures or using an online picture service:
1) No need to upload the pictures - once they are on your PC they are shared
2) No password required to view the pictures unless you want one
3) No huge e-mails or downloads required of your friends and relatives

I have not posted my pictures here because I rarely take anything as professional as you guys do!
For the next few hours I will make my own Pixley Album available for you to view on: //samm27.homeip.net:8088 From here you can see and access 2.4 GB of my digital pictures!
This is hosted on my home PC - so if traffic gets too heavy for me to work I will have to shut it off.
In answer to your questions, Pixley can only deliver JPEG files and only from the directory specified. We have put Pixley through rigorous testing and we are confident that it safe which is why we run it on our own personal and work PCs.

There is no spyware in Pixley, nor will there ever be any spyware in any program Granada Software produces!
Our goal is to make Pixley a popular way to share digital images. That's why we created the product. We will never become popular if we utilize spyware, spam, or any other inappropriate net behaviour.

You can use which ever port you want. You set it in the configuation screen.I use port 8088 because my ISP blocks hosting on port 80 for normal DSL customers.

There are many sites that let you post huge numbers of pictures. I probably didn't explain well enough. The advantages of Pixley are:
- you don't have to upload the pictures
- you don't have to decide which pictures go in which album
- you don't need to register
- no one needs a password to see your pictures unless you require it.
Basically once a picture is on your computer and in the directory you specified to share, it's on the web too!
Before you upload your work to Imagestation, be sure to read #6 of the membership agreement, a portion of which states:
"6. License Grant and Intellectual Property Rights
In consideration for the Service, and the potential benefits related thereto, you grant ImageStation, its successors, licensees and assigns, a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty free license to use, modify, reproduce, distribute, publish, publicly perform, and publicly display your Member Content, by all means now known, or later created, including but not limited to display on the Internet, and in all forms of media, now known or later created."

Just go and check it, it's free, you can even order cheap prints of your pictures

PhotoSig has something very similar in their provisions. I don't remember where exactly. But once you upload to PSig, you have a difficult time getting it down.
