This is the question I ask about "meeting the challenge" - could this POSSIBLY meet the challenge topic?
If I answer yes, I don't mark off for the topic. MY view of strength isn't what another's photo should be about. Strength in ANY way represented is, however.
don't forget the other part of the challenge description "or power". The U.S. (like many other countries) is a "powerful" country, therefore it would meet the challenge, IMHO.
Some people are getting bored about seing cats in every challenge, I like a good cat picture, they are international, But an american flag in every challenge is much more frustrating

There is little doubt that the US flag symbolizes strength. You can argue all day as to weather or not the US is using their strength productively or destructively, but that doesn't deminish the strength. Personally, I see little difference between using a US flag or using the cross to symbolize strength. While the flag may not appeal to someone outside the US, likewise, the cross won't appeal to someone who is not Christian. Personally, I view both ideas (and cats) to be somewhat cliché, however, if they managed to pull it off well, they get the due credit for it. Ultimately, I think the winner (or at least in my ranking) will be the person who not only provides a stunning photograph, but does so while using a concept that I would have never thought of yet symbolizes strength perfectly.
Personally, I think the question is rather silly. But, just out of curiosity, what makes you think it isn't? After all, it is the symbol of the most powerful nation on the planet.

Regardless of its aplication, strength is strength.
word to that, if satan were photogenic, you could probably put a nice little portrait of that crazy guy in "Strength"... just as you could if you took a mugshot of jesus or some religious dude like that...

Just a curiosity, what makes you so sure about that?
i didn't quite see the implication of the flag entries... maybe im not looking close enough? Good or evil, a flag on its own can't define those in my opinion
