I'm getting to the point where I care less and less about the opinion of the DPC collective and more about connecting with fewer people, but strongly enough to pull in their comments.

I really don't feel that's going on. If anything, some people are voting them down to try and keep them from winning again.
if you read through the comments after voting then id disagree, maybe some of the competitors to them do that, but the majority of average users seem to vote them up and not worry about that with our 5.5s haha

I disagree.
I think they just produce really good work and therefore get good scores.
If anything, I think people vote lower because they have higher expectations.
On gyaban's recent coin slot ribbon, I actually only gave him a 6 even though really it deserved more! It was a great picture, but for me, it seemed to much like his past works and somewhat uninspired. If somebody else had taken that pictures, I might have given a higher score, simply because I have somewhat higher standards for gyaban as a frequent ribbon winner and creative master.
Steve Yo_Spiff I did not vote on your picture. Seems like I did not see it. It happens unfortunately when I am on the ipad.
I personally like that we cannot see the face of the woman. The horse looks somehow fragile and overwhelmed that any beautiful face next to it would have taken the mystery away. For that matter, I would have preferred to have the bottom of the picture blurry (belt and jeans). The shadow of the top part of the shot is masterly!
I played on my computer and if I crop the bottom of the picture to the beginning of the woman's elbow the picture gains by virtue of leaving out unnecessary details.
prashant_168 I think 50 times before posting a picture with a child (not to mention mine - I never did it). I would look 100 times to understand why somebody would like to look at that particular picture. On this site there are some photographers who are specialized in child/baby shots that are excellent technically and great for the purpose but seldom interesting as photographs. I am not interested in seeing wonderfully nice kids either. Your shot is great but for your own use more than as a FS shot.
