Yeah, I know how a lot of that goes. I tend to comment when voting because that's when the first impression hits me. I suspect you comment AFTER voting on those of folks you know moreso than those you don't - which is fine. But it also explains why, since lots of folks have the same restrictions in time you do, you don't get as many comments during a challenge as you'd like.

I also like to vote first then comment as I had gotten some questions (during a challenge) why I had voted as I had because the comment and vote come in at the same time, and the only way they could connect me with my vote was when I was giving my comment...therefore I vote first and comment later which I hope buggers up the score sheets...maybe I'm wrong about that...but the questions of "why did you vote such and such" has stopped since I changed my pattern

Even often I bump some scores I gave when commenting.
When I have the time, I give out all scores one after another. If I don't have the time to do so, or when there are a lot of entries, I even vote in batches. Give votes and comments at the same time is rarely possible for me.
I wish I could, I know it would avoid some frustrations when people see a low(er) score enter.
Although I hardly give votes beneath 5 so I don't think these votes will be that frustrating.
I'm happy when I see a 5 entering. Anything above 5 I jump of joy and beneath 5 I ask myself what they see that is bad and those things I like to know.
I went 2 times out of my comfort zone in the 3 challenges that are on now. 2 times I did something for the first time, so yes, off course I'm anxious to know what are the points that went wrong.
In the meanwhile I got 4 comments among which 2 tipped me on small points I have to watch out for next time I do something like that.

I am kind of surpised at the outcome of this challenge. I am not saying the ones that placed high shouldn't have(really, I am not).
I thought my shot would be either EPIC or an Utter failure, but it placed right around mediocre... And there were no "offended" comments, which I thought was strange...

I never consider over 6 to be mediocre...
Don't get me wrong, I am estactic. My second best score; but I do take 38th of 111 or 66% as mediocre.
