Yes but walmart provides WAY more jobs and provides a much cheaper product for communities that are on the poorer side especially.

I'd be more impressed with the jobs if Wal-Mart wasn't one of the companies in which time-shaving (altering employee time-records) wasn't so pervasive. Those billions the Waltons enjoy are accumulated by ripping off minimum-wage workers of their overtime. See yesterday's N.Y. Times for a roster of the other prime offenders (surprisingly, to me anyway, not McDonalds!).
I am not impressed by their line of "it's against policy -- we fire those responsible" -- they just fire the mid-level cannon-fodder. Let's see the CEO do some Federal time for this outrage, or maybe the stockholders ... that's where the bucks stop after all. I'm sick and tired of the adulation these reverse Robin Hoods -- they steal from the poor to give to the rich -- receive, merely because their accountants and lawyers can tote up more mega-bucks than anyone else.

true wal mart provides lots of jobs, but many of the employees of wal mart and Sams Club are not happy at all. I know many people who work for wal mart or Sams and if they could quit and find another job they would, but Wal mart or sams was a last ditch effort for them to get a job to pay the bills

I wrote a 30 page report on this for my MSE degree.
I truly impressed the professor who loved Billy boy.
He pratically stole DOS from the man that wrote it for $50,000.
He stole windows from apple.
He has never written anything that was 100% his.

My feeling on Walmart is that it is a no-win situation. Communities that vote down Walmart's superstores will regret their decision. Walmart will only find another community closeby that will get the jobs and tax revenues.
If one objects to Walmart's practices the only real solution is to choose not to shop at their stores.

I just refused to get ceritfied through Microsft (MCSE) for an additional $700! I would be damned If I gave them that money!

Robin, I hate to say this, but every time you fix one of 'his mistakes' you're just giving him more money. :-) No Windows IT professionals, no corporate use, no home use..
I respect your opinion; maybe I just see Microsoft after Windows 3.0..
They are now graduates in Computer Science and our youngest is going for his masters degree.
They both use linux.
My youngest son has to deal with it at work because his company has not woke up yet and they make so much money they could care less.
Our oldest son works for the State of Texas and they are going Linux.

My degree doesn't seem to have helped change my mind. And for the record, I've used Linux quite a lot myself. :-) I don't object to people liking Windows, Macs or whatever. What I disagree with is blanket-disapproving of a technology. Do you want Linux on your old granny's desktop? No.
I get the feeling you're coming from an information systems background, which I agree Linux has a lot of advantages.
I come from a software development background, where Windows is significantly easier to develop for, and under.
The only point I was out to make is that Walmart is no different than most other companies today.
I don't really care what people like to use.
But when Micrsoft tells computer manufacturers they can not sell machines with Linux and other software products or they will pull their license to sell MS it is bull. Where are these whiners when all this is going on? They seem to have their priorities mixed up?

In *my* opinion, Windows has the best tools (granted, some of them are available on multiple platforms) and the most consistent interface to develop for.
Let me know when you get that major consumer-grade application done for Linux, okay? And no, another web browser doesn't count. :)
