looking forward to Luongo's press conference this time. I still don't see how anybody that has let in as many goals as he has this series could possibly call out Thomas for letting one goal in.

we had a glimpse of that here in richmond after VCU's final four loss, but it was a mild, amateurish effort compared to this (6 people were arrested, but there was no looting or car burning). i hope they can use all the cell-vid footage and ID and arrest a bunch of those losers.

Try living a block away from where it all happened. Actually watching everything from a patio. My boyfriend and I were horrified. And we had guests from out of town too. I was so embarassed and disgusted.
The fun part was when the fire alarm in our building went off and we had to hobble down 17 flights of stairs, my boyfriend and I each carrying a carrier with a cat in it, me with a horrid shin splint from a dance class, only to get downstairs and not be able to go outside because we were afraid of the mob, and then because of the tear gas.
Maybe the fans were just taking their cue from Boston's style of play ... I don't think it would have made any difference in the outcome, but I was quite disappointed in the number of egregiously dirty plays uncalled by the refs ...

Are you referring to those cardboard cutouts attached to skates that the NHL uses to officiate games come playoff time?

Sheesh! I thought Vancouver was the 'ideal' place to live in CA?? Certainly Philly has a horrible reputation for the behavior of it's sports fans, but I was really surprised to see this type of activity after the game yesterday.

I'm hanging my head in shame for the terrible poor sportsmanlike behaviour of the Canucklehead mob. They didn't go freakin ballistic and set things on fire when Canada didn't win or do well at Olympic events this past winter. I really thought things had changed, that they had classed up a little...I was there in '94, same game 7 situation but much worse this time round.
btw scooter97...Vancouver's in Canada, not California ;-) BC to be exact. Yeah, Vancouver does have an 'ideal' place-to-live mythos about it. Which is great if you have lots of $$ and can afford the sky-high housing prices, put up with the horrendous traffic and overall overpopulation of the Lower Mainland, and afford to *escape* to Whistler which is also overpopulated, blah blah blah....but imho Vancouver is tremendously overrated. I lived there for 5 years, worked a lot with street people, I've seen more than I care to mention here about that dreary, congested city.
So come to Ottawa instead, where there are 4 seasons (spring/summer/winter/fall) instead of 1(rain) and it's very damned unlikely that you would EVER see a train wreck like last night in Vancouver, replicated in the Ottawa area.

Just a heads-up...you DO know the Canal is only open for skating on in wintertime, right? Like January and February? ;-) But it also makes a lovely scenic waterway at this time of year! *ducking*
Vancouver didn't have the team to win the cup. They played in a weak western conference and most of their wins came from beating very weak teams like Calgary, Colorado, Columbus and Edmonton. Any team would have amassed 50 or so wins against such a weak conference. Not talking about the better teams, just the weak ones.
So all in all the better team won.
Canada has never lost the cup, ever. Every single team that has won the cup in the past 100 years have all had a majority of Canadian players. So, Canada wins the cup every single year and this year was no different. Ha!
