Commenting on other peoples submissions is one of the best ways to learn. I find it easier to find the flaws in other peoples pictures and I am able to offer suggestions on how to improve upon them (at least I think I can); you are more objective when you don't have a personal connection to the image. The trick is to apply the same objectivity to your own images - I'm still working on that one.
Oh oh, rule number #11. Don't whine and complain about low scores. Everyone has them (except for the special and talented bunch ;) ) and it's just a fact of the site. You HAVE to be able to love your shot regardless. Do not be tempted to not enter a shot because you don't think it will score good. I have finally gotten over this barrier and it feels SO much better, I can now enjoy the site and learn more instead fretting about my score. I try to look at it as, a whole bunch of people get to look at my shot and at least have it recognized, there aren't very many places you can do this. Let's not get stupid though, I still puch that update button an average of 10 an hour! Sometimes it's even 30+! Just don't get discouraged. If you stick with it long enough, you will gradually see an increase in your skill as a photographer, at least I know I have. 6 months ago I knew jack-diddly-squat. Now I can at least consider myself a photographer!

Yeah, forgot to mention that. What I meant to say was, if you like a shot, don't be afraid to enter it to have on you p"permanent record." I know I still like a lot of my lowest scoring shots.
