Really ... weird. I know I commented on a couple earlier today, new publishes, the photographers are totally unknown to me. I was never asked if I wanted to "friend" these people.
PS ... maybe it was asking you if you wanted to stop being friends with me :) Hehe! Just tell them, "No, thanks, we're fine!" (I hope)
OK - I went to the home page, clicked on Artists, clicked on Ursula, and I get, in a gray box, this:

Yeah, I asked you to friend me (or asked to friend YOU) when I first got in there, many many months ago, and you never did it :-( This predates the change...
there is a difference between leaving a comment under a photo, and writing on the wall of a photographer. Anyone can do the former, but only friends are allowed to do the latter.
confirming friends is easy... if you click on "account" in top right corner and click on "Friends", you'll see "New friend requests" on that page.

WOW...just visited the new 1x. Gets some getting use to. I like it a bit....maybe with more time it will continue to grow on me. However, I did notice one difference that was painful.....it is running extremely slow, pictures are slow to upload and view. Is this just me, or are some of you also having the same problem?
Oh WOW...very different...where did the FAVS button go?! I found a new fav in Ben's portfolio. I seem to be viewing all of Puppy Bear's comments in my news feed. Thank goodness...Ursula is still my friend...::beams::

Thanks! I like it better for viewing images but I still cannot see full size images taken by others - I get endless rotating 3 lines showing that it is loading. I suspect it could be some Firefox bug. Has anyone got this problem?
I feel that the problem with this one is mainly the composition, the portion of the sky you left there doesn't communicate a message to me, it doesn't add to the overall scene perception. I'd like to see more of the sea though.
