I've assessed your reply - and it appears that we have common ground on several items.
1. Troop Support
2. Terrorism must be dealt with
3. Viet Nam Vets were poorly treated
4. Accountability and Responsibility are important
5. The current as well as previous administrations, were less than forthwright and should be more so.
I don't know anything about miltary or weaponry, but from what I have heard these attacks by al Qaeda require a great deal of sophistication. What I would like to know is just who is funding an organization like this because it must take a lot of money to do things as dastardly as this. Does anyone have any ideas?
Historically, the funding credit has been given to Osama (Usama) Bin Laden. The US has contained millions of his assets and has sought cooperation from other governments around the globe to do the same. There was some discussions shortly after 9-11 about relatives here in the US and associations with the Saudi Royal family. I'm pretty certain that this was the basis for subsequent claims involving the current administration and various negligence assertions.
As you so validly mention, they have to have money. There are some that believe that due to our "pressence" in that part of the world, that we have favorably impacted other governments to back away from "public" support of extremist organizations. But again, someone has to be footing the bill.
The wire is reporting that #2 on the al-Qaeda list is surrounded.
I have heard that 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi and that the Saudis were funding terrorism in many parts of the world...Anyone have any thoughts on this?

No, those deaths are the responsibility of the "wafflers" who chose political expediency over stopping an unjust and unwise war, NOT the responsibility of civic-minded citizens who felt that the war was wrong, and "assemble{d} ... to petition for redress of grievences" as permitted by the Constitution, and required by the Declaration of Independence ("there comes a time ..."). They are more the responsibility of those (both Democrats and Republicans) who promoted it out of economic interests and lied to us about the whole thing.

One of the differences I see between the "Left" and the "Right" in this country is that people the Left sometimes change their ways when confronted with their own hypocrisy and act on their own rhetoric, like the ACLU helping Mr. Limbaugh with his legal troubles, even though he causes plenty of trouble for them.

okay, so i'm replying a little late for anyone to even read this, and it's getting a little off topic, but oh well. i live in b.c., and right before the terrorist attacks there was the hockey altercation where bertuzzi broke moore's neck. my problem is this: the day after the attacks, the first 10 pages of the newspaper i get was devoted to the bertuzzi incident, while the terrorist attack took up only one page after all that crap. i am disturbed by how backwards people's priorities can be! anyways, that's all i have to say
