What would your guys' take be on parallel lines considering depth and perspective, because I think I could maybe see some one saying "These lines aren't parallel"
Really, I think there will be a lot of those comments if anything.
I've noticed that every week when
new challnge comes out, there is
many of sarcastic people here who start
to make fun of the challenge, and entries
that havent even been enterd yet!
Why don't you let people do what they like to
do, and let them be?
If you are so smart, and that good photographer,
take your camera, and win a ribbon. If you think
that this challnge will be all about "railroads, frames, architecrur, etc", then shoot something better.
Don't make fun of the challnge that hasn't even practicly
strated yet.
Zoomdak and TooCool, the loudest two here,
and no ribbon behind what you are saying.
Unlike Pedro, who has 2 ribbons.

truthfully Tomislav, I think the threads like this are really just trying to challenge people to think outside the box a little. it's easy to fall into the trap of doing what's expected, especially when many feel that the winning shots here are the canned predictable stuff. Personally i disagree with that theory, but I applaud those who want to step outside the ordinary a little, whatever their motives.
I agree. From now on I am going to clearly express that I am being sarcastic. I will also look up the number of ribbons everybody has before I make a judgement about their talent and the validity of their opinions. Ribbons are very important. (sarcasm)

Discouraging shots, whether they are the best photos we've ever seen or not.
He meant discouraging people from taking the shots in the first place because they were insulted here first.
ahhh, now i get it. thanks. :) Then let me be the first to encourage all shots of railroad lines, lots of frames, linear photos, architecture and the sorts. counteract all the Buffalo.

I would love to see voters take their time and look at the photo and it's merits or lack thereof. Vote on composition, lighting, exposure, DOF, angle taken, impact and all the things that make a photo have impact and that WOW factor. So what if you don't like children or pet photos or you're sick of flower photos. If you ever decide to make money with your photography...this might well be the area that makes you the cash. Not saying others won't do that for you...but weddings, senior photos, prom photos, baseball teams, football games all include people and make you money. Just try to be open and not worry over cliches. Just try to open up to the photo and look for leading lines and things that draw your eye in. If there's nothing there then vote it as such.

I never worry about posting clichéd shots otherwise I wouldn't have entered a picture of my daughter for the Silence challenge. I knew going in that some people were going vote it down just because of the subject matter; that's just the way it is around here; gotta please yourself first. :)

It is a shame but what do you do other than chaulk it up to their ignorance. I've said it before and pardon me but I'm going to say it again, it's what some people do best (giving low scores).

IMHO, you went far beyond cliché with that shot; one of my favorites in the challenge. If voters don't look beyond their preconceptions, they'll miss a lot.
Getting back to the original question- I wonder how voters might interpret parallel lines in perspective (like railroad tracks). Unless you shoot face-on, the lines will be converging and therefore not parallel. Hmmm.....
