Congrats to Canada. And a big WAY TO GO for our American boys! Gave the mighty Canadians all they could handle. Played with heart and class. And congrats to Ryan Miller for the MVP of the tourney.
If Ryan Miller doesn't get MVP of the Tournament, the Canadians should give him an honorary gold medal.
Miller absolutely deserved the MVP, he was by far the most outstanding player on any team.
Really happy that Canada won.... my nerves were taking a beating at the end of the third, and Im still a little shaky now..... WOOOOOOO Canada :)

Yeah, Americans are notable for their humility and restraint when doing well in international competition. ;)

Yeah. That's it. Canadians are just such a bunch of classless slobs. World-renowned for their arrogance and in-your-face nationalism. Nobody likes 'em. Whiners when they lose, losers when they win.
Seems like most of the Americans commenting here have been humble and congratulatory. Imagine what you want if the Americans had won. It's hard for a team that played their hearts out and lost in overtime to be joyous immediately after the game. I doubt the Canadian players would have been any happier if they had finished with the silver. I respect people who show class. Regardless of which side of the border they are from.
I must admit - this is the first sports event of any kind I have watched - and had every intention of watching - in its entirety in decades. Since the Cold War games between Russia and the US as far as Olympics go. But I was glued to the screen and watched every minute of the game like I was a regular Hockey fan. And I didn't even have a clue as to what the refs were calling or what was happening. Just the excitement of the game and the chance of gold for the US and even better - as an American and not Canadian - a gold for Canada on their home turf.
I was not disappointed. The game was very exciting. I learned a lot about Hockey as a sport as opposed to a game we play when the pond is frozen (I have played on a lot of frozen ponds and still do) and also realized that it does not matter where you come from or who you play for when money is concerned, all that matters is what you do when you put the skates on and that you are part of a team driving....or in this case skating...for the same 'goal.'
So major congrats to Team Canada and their win but also congrats to Team USA for showing us what it is like to lose with dignity.
