Morning update. At 24 votes I was at 5.5833 and now I'm down some after the overnight voters. Still I'm pleased at this point as it's above my personal best by a good margin at the moment. My score would make most on DPC cry right about now if they were sitting where I was, but at least I know I'm headed in the right direction after 15 challenges. My last two entries made my profile page as well so things are getting more consistent anyway. :)

You would be surprised how many people find that a pleasing average. It only looks like everyone else is regularly pulling 6+'s.
Yes, it does seem that way to me most of the time Steve. I guess my comment was based more so on the forum responses when I see people who have scores of like 6.3 or 6.5 and they sound like they are ready to jump off the nearest bridge. LOL. If I had scores that high I'd probably be standing on top of the bridge shouting happy chants. LMAO!

It does sound that way, and there are enough members for whom anything under a 6 is bombing. Others then begin to think that. I've had my fair share of high scores lately, but I think I just got lucky. Anything over a 5 1/2 is in the happy zone for me.
Sometimes a successful entry is measured other ways. F'rinstance, I am ecstatic to be running at 5.38 right now, as I knew this image would not have broad appeal. I'm also pulling in a good amount of comments fairly early in voting, which tells me I an connecting well, but with a limited group. It's important to read more than just the average.
Well I entered this one as I'm really not comfortable with landscapes so rather than just sit it out I thought I may as well give it a go and hope for some feedback and pointers.

Well, I agree totally. As I mentioned in some other posts it's not about a ribbon for me at this point...to early. I got my first fav this week which made me happy, and my entries for Symmetry and Rainbow both made it to my profile page. These are the little things that keep me plugging away. I don't usually get too many comments one way or the other so lack of feedback is somewhat of an issue, but I keep doing my thing and trying to improve as a photographer. If my entries progress upward little by little then all the better! :)
