I go to Subway for lunch every once in a while. Sometimes the lady at the cash register slips a chocolate chip cookie into my bag and doesn't charge me. This clandestine affair has been going on for years. So I'm always sure to give her a big smile in hopes of getting that cookie.
I got a cookie today!
I told the folks at work I got a free cookie, and one of them commented, "Oh, are they still giving out free cookies to all the customers on Tuesdays?"

I agree on the lettuce...but the main issue I have with them is the bread (glorified hotdog buns) and the sandwich meat (precut and greasy processed meat parts).
Give me a standard 'grinder' from the corner shop with fresh cut meat and cheese etc. The bread should shower you with crust parts when you take a bite...

I'm with ya 100%. hadn't been to a Subway for years, but stopped in one on the way back from Maine, late at night, and I was forcefully reminded of why I stopped going to Subways. What insipid pap! Ridiculous bread, stale meat, generic cheese, profoundly unappealing.
On the other hand, I have a sub shop 1/4 mile from me here that makes their own, excellent sub loaves and fills them with wonderful, fresh-sliced meats and cheeses... Don't even COST but a few cents more than Subway's, either...
