because you have to do a weighted average. You need to figure out the number of votes in each challenge. Let's say you got a 6.1 in challenge 1 and a 5.2 in challenge two. You can't just average those two numbers, because challenge one only had 93 votes, while challenge 2 had 256 votes. So your average will be closer to the 5.2 end, not right in the middle.

For paste on excel, you just need to use the paste special option...
If you get any problems, mail me because i already pasted your numbers on a spreadsheet!! (and i will input a average calculation with the weighted average now!!) =D
Here are your needed numbers to achieve your goals:
To reach a 5.7 you will need to average a 5.156 for the next 5,000 votes received which is approx. 33 challenges or 5.428 for the next 10,000 votes (approx. 66 challenges).
To reach a 5.8 you will need to average a 6.415 for the next 5,000 votes received which is approx. 33 challenges or 6.108 for the next 10,000 votes (approx. 66 challenges).
Hope this helps. I think you should keep trying to achieve the 5.8 instead of the 5.7 :)
Yeah, I shouldn't have DQ'd the 4.3'ish FS but at the time I was still in my "see if I can improve" mind set. Now I can let those run with ease! :-) And Wendy, I think scoring wise I've been either stagnating or going downhill since about midway through year 2 here. Carlo, I really do try to get better (and I think I do improve) but DPC tends to think otherwise. So I'm trying to find a way to make playing the game a wee bit less depressing. Probably best just to stay away from challenges - that usually works!

LOL, Carlo! Pick the 12 before that and you'll find only 1 above 6 and two in the 4s! :-) I'm nothing if not terribly inconsistent.
Edit to add that I am still very pleased with the ones that scored in the 4s, by the way. My FS of Christoph is still one of my favorite shots all year. :-)
Deb, as far as the cigs leave them at the store, best place for them. If you want to drop your score hell, just ask my advice on possible entries, out of my last 10 entered only 3 made it out of the 4's..

LOL, Peter! Yes, perhaps I need some decompression. Or the reality of being out of a job for the first time since I was about 13 is starting to sink in. Oh, and I seriously need better challenge entry titles - yours put mine to shame!

I think a better game would be to try and predict what your (Melethia)'s overall average will be in say 10 challenges time.
We could all have a guess and the person closest is the winner ?
Funny my avarage as of right now is 5.6999 so I think I'll aim for 5.7 as well :)
Given the actual average moves slow it doesn't give you an imprestion of if you are improving. I keep track of my running average over ten entries to see if I'm improving (I keep a chart on my profile), I think it shows I'm slowly getting there.
can I guess that tou will be on 7.0122 in ten challenges time ?

My current average is 5.7469. I did have it as high as 5.7500 briefly this year. My guess is that in 10 challenges, my average will be 5.7432.
8 challenges later (counting two in voting) and I am getting close! Average is now 5.7440 and falling quickly. I am not trying to fail, honest! I come by it naturally! :-)
