Yesterday as I opened the washing machine to get the clothes out one of my SanDisk Extreme III CF cards fell on the floor. OMG I thought, what have I done!!
I dried it off and left it on one side for 24 hours and just popped it into my pc. Thank goodness, 400+ RAW files from my recent trip to Scotland were on it and every one is there!
I've had flashdrives go through the laundry at least 6 times now and they always work just fine afterwards. As long as they get dried out. With no power applied, there is nothing for the water to damage.
A few years ago I read an article where they tested several types of flash media for the kind of "problems" which typically arise in the course of normal use. As I recall, all of the cards passed the "Washing Machine Test" but only the SmartMedia (and maybe one other) passed the "Nail To A Tree" test ... glad all your mages are now SFW! ;-)
The funny thing is, though, that as robust as they are, they can still corrupt your data without a moment's notice. I have had flash memory get scrambled enough that I do not consider it to be primary storage. I use it for convenience, or if it is mobile data, then I keep regular backups.

if you're living in the US, i think u can sue your washing detergent company for misleading advertising. they always say they can clean better than anyone else.
