What happened to upload slots? Did they change? or do they take them away if you don't use your account for a while? I used to have 3 a week and now I have 1 with no entries or rejections in the meantime.

just checked my account and I'm down to 1 slot after sitting on 5 for about 2-3 months... Use it or lose it, I guess!
No, there is a HUGE furore going on in the forum over there. Due to the screener's being incapable of handling the large quantity of submissions, the owners of the site decided to reduce the number of upload slots for all users. No e-mails sent to explain this, just a notice in the forum. It's not been the most popular decision by all accounts. So it's nothing to do with non-utilisation of existing slots, but totally due to a change in the rules that has not been communicated in an effective manner.

Each bonus slot is earned by either voting for 40 pictures or commenting 6 pictures in memberscreening (minimum length 70 characters) or writing 6 posts in the critique forum.

I also thought that was a good idea, encourages and rewards participation IMHO
