OK, I'm new to Photoshop and I can't get my text very large on my motivational photo. It lets me type font size 99 but that still does not look very big. Is there something obvious I'm missing or a tutorial that you know of online somewhere? I'm sure this is a duh to many of you, but if anyone can post a quick how-to I would be grateful.

I don't know what version of PS you are using but in CS4 if you simply over type font size you can get it pretty much as big as you want.
I just tried and is was happily getting past 300 pt

You don't have to accept their suggestions - just type in any number you want (like 500) and it should still work.
I'm surprised that there are only 50 entries so far for the demotivational challenge. I was expecting there to be around 200-250 for this because I think it's such a great opportunity to do something other than straight photography.
Maybe people did a great demotivational poster and it worked so well they couldn't see the point of entering it!
I'm in for De-Mov, which is what I'm gonna call it cause not motivated enough to write out such a long word. Bummer that we were stuck with Basic and not Advanced.

I am TOTALLY into the Demotivational. It was hard for me to come up with a good idea, but once it came to me (last night), I got right on it today. This has to be one of my best entries in a very long time. Guess that means the voters will score it a 3.0
I'm working on editing my photo for demo...and my quesiton is...can we add extra space for the text? Is that forboden?
I can easily get the text anywhere in the photo really, but I'd rather add some space...someone help :-)

Even in basic editing you can add a border. The border does not have to be the same width all the way around either, so you can place your text in widest/thickest part of the border.

OK, I'm in. I'm actually surprised that both challenges are roughly equal in submissions. I had thought the de-motivators would be more popular. Just because I like them, I suppose. In a weird way, they are actually motivating.

i was under the impression that no matter how you created the border, that as long as it was recognizable as a border, then it was ok in any edit .. ??..
i'm confused also because in both basic and advanced it says ..
"you may .. add a border to the outside edge of your entry. Your border must be distinct and clearly recognizable as a border."
how many times do we see a thin border, like a line, inside the boundaries of the photograph .. in fact i was going to do that instead in case the faded out border wasnt allowed .. ???????..:)

My interpretation about the "clearly recognizable as a border rule" is that it is there to avoid people increasing canvas size, like adding a black border around a black background. But there is nothing in the rules which specifically states that you are allowed to use a layer for your purpose, so I would be careful!
