Well done, Peter! Congrats on the new PB! Hope you don't mind, but I posted your shot to the Taking it to the Streets side challenge thread - I thought it fit there quite nicely and the folks who peruse that thread would enjoy it.
There are no less than 4 of our number in the top 20 of CandidV...oh the shame, the shame....where's my paper bag?! Good thing I am around to maintain the status quo ;-)
There's now a little * beside my Candid entry :) The fifth place entry was removed so I now have my second top ten placing. and Peter moved up to 8th. Woo Hoo Peter!!!!!
Welcome back Jeff, best of luck Jeb. I'm going through a recent shoot right now and I hope to find something that I could use for the free study, fingers crossed.
I'm also in FS. I'm doing pretty good in the FSM actually. I'm 57th. I'm really not sure how, but I am. LOL! My current entries are doing their usual sucking...
I've been in for the FS for half a month now. If it doesn't break 5.5, I'm taking at least a month off from challenges. :-)
I know what you mean! I've been a bit discouraged by scores lately too. It seems no matter what I do I can't get out of the 4's. My tree is at 5.3 though. My not quite right came in at a 4.3 and I don't have a clue why. My only commenter said it was a "great shot" yet gave me a 4. Is it me, or are scores in general just really low unless it's some "wow" image. I think 1 through 4 are the most hit buttons in voting anymore.
I don't know. But I've almost become convinced I should quit voting in challenges I enter, too. Lately I figure if I'm sucking, everyone else gets to suck right along with me, and that's so not fair. So perhaps I'll just vote challenges for awhile and not enter 'em. Everyone's average might be better off, including mine! :-)
Actually, I haven't been voting on many challenges lately for the same reason. At least not the ones I'm entering. You can't help but feel that way sometimes though, so don't feel bad. It's been debated endlessly but, sometimes after I challenge I can't help comparing where shots came in both in front of and behind mine, and asking myself if I'm really that bad. So discouraging!
I've been following and voting on a few challenges lately, and I have to tell you, the quality of work itself is what is frustrating to me. It seems like there has been very little effort lately on a lot of peoples' parts, and maybe it's just a random trend or something, but perhaps it's causing voters to start voting lower on even better quality efforts by association.
Or perhaps it's all just a mass hysteria kind of thing. The more we lament, the more it gets into everyone's psyche.

I don't often get time to vote (I'm not into speed-voting), so I rarely see images outside of Team Suck results. I did get through the Animals in Motion, and there are a lot of fantastic shots there. Some challenges bring out the best, I guess.
