As Bear mentioned they favor introspection, and that may be a new concept for DPC since we lean so heavily towards the commercial side of things. Anyway, I hope you don't mind me singling out our image, I just thought it was the perfect example to illustrate the differences between DPC and 1x.

Thanks. I was trying to go back and soften it a little. :) Btw, I'm not sure if this photo would get through or not but I do like it better. Her personality seems to be shining through more.
And I would add that I hope we don't "vote each other up" just to do so. As with here, if you vote on an image, vote on the image, not the person who took it if you happen to know that.

If I make it at 1x, I want it to be because I actually have a picture that is good enough, not because there were a horde of dpcers voting for it. :)

Weighted voting system anyway. Less published shots you have, less weight your vote carries.
Well I like the color tones :P With impact, I see a lot of shallow DOF flower pics but perhaps because this still life was taken indoors? My next upload shall be a b/w still life, I personally don't like it as much as the color sunflower picy that was rejected but we'll see what happens. For those who use LCD displays, do you find the above shot too contrasty? looks great on my calibrated CRT. Thanks :)

Might dump it in critique there and ask for feedback, but to me it has that sickly orange cast of borked whitebalance. That might have been where the color reason came from.
a looooong time ago, i told to ursula that why you keep shooting flowers. I felt that she is a very talented photographer who is wasting herself shooting such mundane things that everyone shoots. (i means guys like me should be doing these petty stuff).
Her reply was that it is not what one should shoot, it is how one shoots that makes difference. The same subject could be shot thousand times if one is creative he/she will make masterpiece out of it.
(not her exact words but this was crux of it).
at dpc she is one of very few people who really impressed me very much. When i look at her work, i feel that the person who shot these loves photography and doing it because he/she enjoys it.
Anyway fast forward few days back, i looked at her photos at onexposure, and my month was open - holy crap. She has exactly the photos in her portfolio i thought she is capable of.
I always knew she is special but being right about her was so sweet.

Ouch. Rejected twice in 1 day. Come on over to my rejection thread and I can reject you a third - but at I'll tell you WHY you were rejected (and not some lame response like "motif" or "impact")
i have acceptance percentage of around 20 , so this means out of every 5 submitted i get 1 published.
But 90% of my rejects were photos even i would have rejected.
I submitted them just because i had slots and i did not submit anything for long time.
Anyway but there are three photos i wished they were in my portfolio.
1. In my world
2. Ophelia
And
3. In search of future.
Anyway i do not mind rejects at OE, i only wish i could remove my photos from there once there are published. This way i could spend time making myself better.
I've had 32 rejected and only 8 published. Rejection isn't that big of deal, accept when an image I submitted is handedly shot down, only to have another image that is very, very similar be accepted. That's what urks me more than anything...
