That's because you're using the img tags to link to a page, rather than the jpeg itself. Try adding ".jpg" to the end of the url, which should fix it.
EG:
[ img ] //www.dpportfolio.com/albums/album39/x_mas_light.jpg [ / img ] (without the spacing, of course)

Don't write any spaces. Manic wrote spaces, because if he hadn't left any, the image would have appeared and you would see nothing of the source.
