Basically use the maximum load as a guide. A carbon and an aluminum may both support 15 lbs, but the carbon one will weigh 3 lbs and the aluminum one 5 lbs. You have to decide whether 2 lbs of weight saving is worth the extra money. They should be equally sturdy for the weight load specified. |
Bob, thanks so much for this reply. I agree and this info helped me decide to go with the the aluminum and not carbon fiber.
I believe I have finally made a decision on both the legs and head.
I am going to get the 055XPROB Tripod & the 468MGRC4 Hydrostatic Ball Head.
The ball head might be a bit overkill (and is rated to hold more than the tripod) but based on the load rating and functionality - I think it's the right set up. Paying a bit more than I had wanted - but I am hoping this will be a one time purchase.
